In their first Twenty20 international against Ireland Women in Cape Town, South Africa women won by 105 runs.
After just one run, Jane Maguire removed Faye Tunnicliife from the field after the hosts won the toss and chose to bat first.
Laura Wolvaardt, captain of South Africa, was the hero, recording 115 points and four sixes in the process.
With only 52 deliveries to reach the milestone, Wolvaardt completed the seventh-fastest century in women’s T20 international history.
As Ireland finished second overall in the World Cup, Sune Luus added 81 more runs, which they fared far short of.
Amy Hunter and Orla Prendergast were dismissed in the opening game of Lloyd Tennant’s side, who lost two wickets in the first over.
After 18 overs, with Luus taking four wickets, Ireland were all out for 115 with Captain Gaby Lewis (30) and Leah Paul (30), who kept the ship steady.
