After their roles on Home and Away, respectively, Ziggy Astoni and Dean Thompson, respectively, started dating Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor.

Sophie Dillman, the star of Home and Away, and Patrick O’Connor, the couple’s spouse, have sweetly announced their engagement.

Soap star Sophie, 32, confirmed the couple’s exciting news on social media last night, sharing a gallery of photos capturing the proposal, including the moment Patrick got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. They have shut down split rumours after speculation swirled earlier this year.

The pair, who moved in together before Covid, play Ziggy Astoni and Dean Thompson in the much-loved Aussie show. They have been together since 2019 and confirmed they’re taking a huge step after Patrick popped the question in the build up to Christmas on a scenic Sydney beach.

Before adding a diamond ring and love heart emoji, Sophie captioned the romantic photos with the words “Home has always been with you.” “Hello, sweethearts, I’m so excited to meet you and Georgie Parker, co-star of Summer Bay,” the crowd yelled as they congratulated them. You won’t be happier for it, could not.

She claims that their relationship began when they were first friends. It also meant she could “hang out” with her “best mate all the time,” which is a blessing, and added that “our characters got together and then we did.” We spend our entire time together, but because of that, we were the first to become close friends.

Sophie spoke up to raise awareness of endometriosis earlier this year The condition, as stated by the NHS, involves cells similar to those in the lining of the uterus growing in other parts of the body, and symptoms can include severe period pain, heavy periods and fatigue.

The actor, who has revealed that she has now lived with endometriosis for more than a decade, spoke to 7News about how she dealt with her symptoms whilst on set of the show. Sophie returned for several episodes of the soap just months ago, after previously starring on it from 2017 to 2023.

She claimed to frequently use a hot water bottle while filming. Being on your feet all day, running up and down, changing costumes, and wearing flares that don’t fit can hurt, she said.

Sophie said she would use her hot water bottle to “everywhere” and go everywhere. She recalled when filming began and suggesting that her coworkers would then give it back in between takes when she recalled pulling it out of her pants. She added that using it for so long has left her with “permanent scarring” on her stomach.

Sophie claimed that she has been experiencing symptoms since her first period when she described the condition. After calling on doctors to look into the possibility of endometriosis, she added that she had received an “official diagnosis.”

Sophie expressed her “strong” feelings about it. She said, “They discovered what they believed to be scar tissue and I said, “No, I want you to test it because I believe it is endometriosis,” and I felt very strongly about it when it came back.

She continued, adding that when she was awakened for another two operations, she was informed that it was scar tissue rather than endometriosis. Sophie recalls encouraging them to test the scar tissue and saying, “That’s what happened last time.”
