In a wry social media post, Joseph Platt, the son of renowned producer Marc Platt, called Snow White actress Rachel Zegler “immature.”
Jonah Platt, Marc Platt’s eldest son, slammed Snow White actress Rachel Zegler. Marc, a renowned producer behind films like La La Land and Cruella, flew to meet with Rachel over her social media posts defending Palestine and her remarks against Donald Trump returning to power.
Jonah, an actor, writer, and producer, criticized the film star on social media for her stance. Rachel and Marc had been collaborating on the movie. Rachel was called “immature” in Jonah’s post, which has since been deleted. Jonah also alleged that she had narcissistic tendencies.
A Jonah-related question was posed by a user on social media: “Your dad flew to NYC to reprimand a young actress.” Any comments on this? Because that is uncalled for and creepy as hell. No, no one has the right to free speech. Your father deserves shame.
Jonah yelled, “You really want to do this,” in a fiery rant. Yes, my father, the creator of the sizable piece of Disney IP that had hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to travel across the country to apologise to his 20-year-old employee for sticking her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she had signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and act in public.
Jonah suggested that Rachel’s statements might have an impact on the film’s performance at the box office. He asserted that “free speech does not imply that you are entitled to say whatever you want in your private employment without fear of reprisals.” She stooped the conversation to her own immature desires at the risk of the colleagues, the crew, and the blue collar workers who depended on that film’s success because it was a tens of thousands of people’s work. It is not appropriate to coddle or encourage narcissism.
Disney reportedly employed a social media guru for Rachel after her Instagram post about Donald Trump’s re-election. The actress in November 2024 after the election results took to her Instagram to express her anger and sorrow that Trump was re-elected. Near the end of her post, she had written “May Trump supporters … never know peace” and signed off with “F— Donald Trump.” The post received backlash from MAGA supporters and conservatives. Rachel apologised for the post in an Instagram Story the following week.
Variety reported on March 25 that the company and Snow White producer Marc Platt hired a social media guru to vet her post before the film’s March 21 debut after her Trump post. There reportedly was a back and forth but Rachel eventually worked with the guru.
The outlet reported that Disney and Marc had an issue with another of Rachel’s social media posts. Rachel, known for her outspoken support for Palestine, had tweeted, “and always remember, free Palestine.”
The 67-year-old film producer reportedly traveled to New York to meet Rachel while she was getting ready for her Romeo + Juliet Broadway show to talk to her and get her to delete her pro-Palestinian tweet. Rachel kept her tweet and position, but she never changed.
In an interview Cosmopolitan in October 2024, Rachel spoke about the backlash she received from Snow White leading to people harassing her from her apartment.
“For being brown,” having brown skin. for Snow White’s playing. A particular group of people were reportedly escorting people and yelling profanities at my apartment, the 23-year-old said.
The article did not mention whether Disney compensated Rachel for the hysterical and racist backlash she received from playing the Latina woman who is half Colombian and for criticizing the movie for being outdated as well as for describing how it “scared” her as a child.
