Sneakerinas, a hybrid pair of shoes that combines elements of both trainers and ballerina flats, is the most recent contentious shoe trend to emerge in 2025. They have already attracted the attention of celebrities.
We’ve seen a lot of divisive shoe trends over the past few years, from Maison Margiela’s iconic Tabis and mesh ballet flats to Mary-Jane shearling shoes from UGG. The ‘sneeperina’ is the newest “ugly” shoe trend, and 2025 brings it.
The sneakerina, as you can probably tell from the hybrid name, combines ballerina flats and trainers (or sneakers as Americans call them). Given that the two shoes are already well-liked and not particularly controversial, this seems harmless. However, many people have divergent opinions regarding the outcome.
A-List celebs have, of course, already adopted this trend from Phoebe Dynevor to Bella Hadid, who was spotted wearing a reasonably affordable £119 pair from Vivaia.
Although the trend started with the likes of Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton, Vivaia’s Cristina Satin Sneakerinas are a little more affordable at £100. Bella and Charli XCX have two distinct fan bases in the Coachella desert, and both of them are a big fan of Vivaia’s pair.

The Vivaia trainers are constructed with a rubber sole and are made of a smooth satin material like traditional ballet ballet shoes. The outcome ? A feminine ballet flat that perfectly combines athleticism and sport.
We’ve found a few more sneakerina styles you can buy for less, just like all trends that start off on high-fashion runways.
Charles &, Keith, and Cece Satin Ruched Bow Sneakers are available for £75 here.
These silver satin Charles &, Keith sneakers combine both trends in one, making them both popular and fashionable as well as metallic footwear. If silver isn’t your thing, you can get them in a classic black colorway.
Dua Lipa posted an Instagram carousel sporting the Puma Speedcat Ballet Shoes, showing that she’s given this controversial trend her seal of approval. Dua’s exact metallic silver ones are currently out of stock, but we’ve found some suede pink ones from Puma that still perfectly fit into the trend.
