In a road accident at the Ibeju Bus Stop along the Lagos State Lekki-Epe Expressway, six people died and nine others were seriously hurt.
A truck struck a commercial bus, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in confirmation of the incident on Monday.
Two adult males, three adult females, and a child were among the victims. However, four of the other bus’s passengers escaped unharmed.
A blue Volvo FL6 truck loaded with wooden planks collided with a white commercial bus with the registration number AKD 336 YD, according to preliminary investigations.

According to Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, “The nine injured survivors were quickly extricated by LASTMA officials with support from other emergency responders and immediately transported to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Epe and Hammond Hospital for urgent medical attention.”
He added that their families would need to be formally identified as their skeletal remains had been deposited at the FMC morgue in Epe. The Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), which worked in partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), immediately treated the four unhurt survivors.
The victims’ quick evacuation and normalcy at the accident site were assured by the coordinated emergency response.
Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the general manager of LASTMA, spoke with the families of the deceased while expressing concern about the persistent cases of reckless driving on Lagos highways. He cautioned drivers against speeding, saying that “speed thrills, but ultimately kills”.
