After receiving new treatment, Sir Elton John claims that his left eye is failing him and that his right eye is also losing sight. However, he claims that he is not giving up hope.
After previously revealing that an eye infection had nearly caused him to lose vision, Sir Elton John has now updated his health. The 78-year-old music icon revealed that the infection has caused him to lose sight in his right eye. Unfortunately, his left eye is also failing him, which makes it so he can’t work on any new music because he can’t read the lyrics.
He has trouble keeping his kids active and dislikes morning newspapers and music charts. Additionally, he hasn’t been able to watch any of his previous films, including the music for The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical and Elton John: Never Too Late, which he has composed for.
The Tiny Dancer star claims he “hasn’t given up hope” about eventually restoring his vision so he can go back to work and watch his sons Zachary, 14, and Elijah, 12, grow up with his husband of 63 years.

Sharing the toll his health battle has taken on him, Elton told Variety magazine: “It’s been devastating. Because I lost my right eye and my left eye’s not so good, the last 15 months have been challenging for me because I haven’t been able to see anything, watch anything, read anything.
There is hope in my life because I’ve had the most incredible life. I just need to be patient because science might have some insight into this one. I’ll be fine once they get this one right. It resembles the AIDS situation in every way. You must always try to knock the door down in an effort to make things better. You must also be stoic, strong, and patient.
According to his husband, David, Elton can read a lot on a giant computer screen that can be used to help him read the midweek music charts. He added that they had been receiving good results from additional treatments.
He stated, “We’ve been doing some treatments, and there’s been some improvements in his left eye, which is really good, and we’re continuing to look into and receive a lot of outreach from a lot of doctors who want to help and support.”
Because his right eye’s retina has been damaged, the retina doesn’t heal naturally, so this area of emerging science is relevant. However, things are rapidly changing. It is amazing what AI can do for medicine and science by itself. Additionally, there are numerous intriguing new discoveries and discoveries. They can conduct the trials much faster than they could before with the data processing.
Elton claimed he could still play instruments and sing despite the fact that the situation is currently not ideal. He continued, “We had a wonderful time competing in the Singapore Grand Prix one day with the band.” You just have to grin and bear it, I mean. Sometimes I get down because of it. However, I have my husband and two wonderful children, and we have a wonderful family.
And he’s not short of some well-known supporters. Paul McCartney FaceTimes him to see how he’s doing, according to Elton. Additionally, Keith Richards, Pete Townshend, and Mick Jagger text him. Even if it simply says, “Hello, darling, how are you doing,” Elton said. You are aware of our love for you. He says, “It just makes my day.”
But he won’t let his vision problems prevent him from working entirely. Elton will play the Rock in Rio music festival the following year, according to a statement released this week.
Since Elton’s final performance on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Stockholm, Sweden, on July 8, 2023, the concert will take place on September 7, 2026. The Rocket Man singer declared on his return to the big screen that he was going to deliver something special.
Every time we play in Brazil, he said, “I’ve always had a fantastic time.” When Rock In Rio asked me to play during the farewell tour because I couldn’t make it to South America, I said “yes” right away. Brazilian fans are so special to me and are so special to me.
Since I stopped touring, I haven’t been able to stop enjoying the energy these big one-off shows have. We’re still really enjoying playing together, and we’re sounding as good as we’ve always been. I’m so excited to travel back to Brazil next summer.
