Vikkstar is considering working with KSI and has made a major collaboration with one of the biggest producers in the world.

Vikram Singh Barn, a 29-year-old native, first gained notoriety as a member of the Sidemen YouTube group, receiving over 7.5 million views from his own YouTube channel. With his pals, KSI, Simon Minter, Joshua Bradley, Tobit ‘ Tobi ‘ Brown, Ethan Payne and Harry Lewis, the lads have a combined subscriber count of 146.2 million, and over 43.6 billion views.

Vikkstar, who was born in Surrey, is now a native of Sheffield and has already established himself as a household name to watch. He was invited as Alan Walker’s guest on Tomorrowland’s main stage in 2022. “It was a cool moment and something a bit different”, Vikk exclusively told the Mirror.

He continued, “I could learn to DJ and play it myself when we came off stage.” I went on and did that, learning about production and making my own music, I’ve been following that journey. It’s something I’m passionate about and enjoy”. While he’s used to having millions of people follow him online, he laughed that it was a “surreal” experience to be looking out at over 100, 000 people.

Vikk had been working behind the scenes on music for years and in December 2022, he, KSI and TBJZL (Tobi) took things seriously, releasing the Christmas track, Christmas Drillings, featuring Jme. The record reached the third position on the charts. “We got together in 24 hours, messed around, made a song”, he laughed.

He added: “It was actually our team who said, ‘ if you guys push this, you realise you could get in the charts for Christmas and run for Christmas, number one’, it was astonishing. It only serves to demonstrate how devoted and supportive our audience is, which we genuinely appreciate and allow us to accomplish. I enjoyed it at the time because it was a fun introduction to music. It was a slightly different take on how things are typically viewed.

But could there be more collaborations with KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams’ “JJ” Olatunji? “Yeah, 100 per cent”, Vikk explained. He continued, “He’s focusing on the fighting game right now, which is expected, but when the time comes, it’s going to make sense for us to do something together, I’m sure it will happen at some point.”

Fans can anticipate a collaboration between KSI and himself.

JJ will join the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel, stepping in for Bruno Tonioli who had to take time away for other work commitments. Reflecting on this, Vikk commented: “It’s great that he’s doing Britain’s Got Talent. I think it’s going to provide something fresh, exciting, something that all of the younger people can connect to and also it’s KSI, he’s such a character. His antics on that show will be entertaining to me.

Better Off Alone Pt. was Vikk’s first album, working with Alan Walker and Dash Berlin. III which has so far smashed over 130 million streams. Working with Steve Aoki and Nicky Romero was a “surreal experience,” he said of the “surreal experience of working with some of the greatest producers and DJs.”

Vikk continued: “These are guys that I’ve been going to watch perform for the last decade. Before I started looking at it as a career path, I’ve been a part of the scene for a while, and they can see that I enjoy it and I’m happy to kind of help and work with me. Additionally, it makes it possible for me to introduce my audience to dance music, which I think is cool to see cross-posted.

Vikk is heading out on his own headline tour in the coming weeks
In the upcoming weeks (Handout), Vikk will be making his own headline tour.

He’ll begin a four-date tour of the UK in April after having sold out of Australia’s numerous shows in a flash. “I’m really excited to play some of my own shows”, he teased. Vikk continued, “I posted a link where people could register for interest, and we chose the four cities with the most interest.” Although I was disappointed to see Sheffield didn’t make it, I believe I wanted to get the most out of my fans with these four shows because it’s only just beginning and how busy my schedule is. He’ll be performing at XOYO in Birmingham, Manchester’s O2 Ritz, District in Cardiff and SWX in Bristol.

Since joining the YouTube scene in 2010, Vikk has said it’s “pretty mind blowing” to see such huge followings his career. Over the past ten years, it has kind of increased. So it doesn’t come as, as so much of a kind of shock, but it’s still pretty crazy”, he admitted.

Before you could make money off of the content, the content creator who began making video games admits to doing it himself and his pals. We were all doing it solely for the enjoyment of learning new skills, making fun of each other, and creating new things. When I started my channel, my main goal was ‘ it would be really cool if I could get to 1, 000 subscribers, ‘ and that took me probably over a year.

It’s just been a natural journey, with only the best opportunities coming up and expanding the project overall. However, having millions of followers worldwide can lead to some awkward interactions. A fan calling a restaurant after seeing the young people eating there is another thought that comes to mind. They requested that one of the waitresses bring the phone over to us so that we could speak with her. We were a bit baffled, “he laughed, adding:” But we were a bit impressed at the lengths someone would go to, to speak to us. However, we were also a little perplexed that a confused waitress had phoned in order to interrupt our meal.

Vikk and his Sidemen co-stars will own the global Netflix series Inside later this year, he claims is “very exciting” going from producing a series of videos for Netflix worldwide. “The boys have also sold out Wembley Stadium for their March 8 charity football game.
