Sharon Osbourne cried in heartfelt scenes today as part of her husband’s funeral procession, Ozzy Osbourne. Since last week, the mother hasn’t been since revealing the passing of her beloved husband.
As Sharon, 72, emerged from her car to look over the countless tributes at the renowned Black Sabbath bridge, Sharon looked heartbroken. Her children Kelly, Jack, and Aimee accompanied her as the couple poured a fervent love for the heavy metal star.
At one point, Sharon collapsed while her daughter Kelly swung her arms around her shoulders while her hands covered her face. One fan yelled, “We love you Sharon! ” as one of the thousands of people lining the streets of Birmingham today! in support of the campaign.
The Osbournes, who are grieving together, stopped at the Black Sabbath bench to read some of the thousands of tributes left by fans since last week, adding some of their own bouquets to the memorial.
The crowd was greeted with a grateful wave as did all of Ozzy’s many grandchildren.
As the family arrived, many of the audience members, who were filming the cortège, lowered their phones and chanted Ozzy’s name.
Kelly, Ozzy’s youngest daughter, also experienced heartache and brother Jack gave her a comforting embrace. The actress claimed last week that she had lost “my best friend ever had” as a tribute to her father.
After enduring his final years in love with America, the Black Sabbath singer shared his desire to move back home. Ozzy passed away last Tuesday at the age of 76, just days after his farewell performance at Aston Villa’s football stadium. He had previously battled a number of health issues.
Around 12.45pm, the hearse’s entrance into Birmingham city center passed the star’s childhood home in Lodge Road, Aston, about 12 noon. Since the singer’s passing, flowers have been erected outside the terraced home near Villa Park, and Osbourne’s portrait has been displayed there in the front bay window.
A few fans and the current home owner watched as the Jaguar hearse and six Mercedes funeral cars slowly travel along the street while being accompanied by a police motorcycle rider and a police car.
In Birmingham, where Ozzy fans are based, Ozzy fans are observing his personal funeral tomorrow. Sir Elton John, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, and Geezer Butler, Ozzy’s Black Sabbath bandmates, are among the stars who are scheduled to attend. Yungblud also plays at the concert.
From Wednesday evening around 1 p.m., the hearse carrying Osbourne made its way down Broad Street to the Black Sabbath bench and bridge.
In tribute to the heavy metal legend who was born in the Aston area of Birmingham, fans have recently left heartfelt messages and floral tributes around the Black Sabbath mural on Navigation Street.
The Birmingham Museum And Art Gallery, which has an exhibition titled Ozzy Osbourne (1948-2025): Working Class Hero, has also signed a book of condolences.
Birmingham City Council and the Osbourne family co-operated with them to pay all the associated costs while organizing the procession.
Zafar Iqbal, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, stated that Ozzy was more than just a musician’s son. It was important to the city that we supported a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral because he recently received the Freedom of the City and made a celebratory appearance at the Back to the Beginning concert earlier this month.
We are aware of how important this event will be for his supporters. We’re pleased to host it with his loving family in the location where it all began, and we’re grateful that they generously offered to pay for it so that it can happen. We also appreciate that the city is honoring him with the farewell he deserves.
Bus and trams will be diverted during this time before the road reopens when the event is finished, and Broad Street will be closed to through traffic starting at 7am.
Osbourne and his Black Sabbath bandmates, Terence “Geezer,” Tony Iommi, and Bill Ward, recently received the Birmingham Freedom, which acknowledges people’s outstanding service to the city.
The 1968-founded band is widely credited with shaping and promoting the sound of heavy metal.
Osbourne, who also had a successful solo career, appeared alongside his wife Sharon and their two youngest children, Kelly and Jack, in the noughties reality TV series The Osbournes.
The music legend, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, gave his final performance on July 5 at a concert that included acts from Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, and Anthrax.
