Shakira Medical Record Leak Sparks Peru Investigation

Shakira Medical Record Leak Sparks Peru Investigation

As they looked into Shakira’s medical records after she received treatment at a Lima clinic, Peruvian authorities threatened to impose sanctions and severe fines on Tuesday.

The 48-year-old four-time Grammy-winning Colombian singer-songwriter was taken to the emergency room on Saturday for an abdominal condition, forcing her to scrap a blockbuster Sunday show.

Shortly after her brief hospitalization, her medical report appeared on social media, sparking widespread outrage among fans and an official investigation.

Shakira resumes world tour after staying at Lima Hospital.

The clinic could be subject to a fine of up to $ 430, 000, according to a spokeswoman for Peru’s national health service watchdog, who told AFP on Tuesday.

“Yesterday (Monday) we were at the clinic, we met with the officials, they have given their explanation, which is confidential”, spokeswoman Ruby Cubas told AFP.

The investigation is anticipated to last 25 days.

Shakira’s treatment facility, Delgado, announced that it was looking into a “serious ethical breach of our code of conduct and regulations governing personal data processing.”

“We have already identified and started the sanctioning process against those proven responsible”, it said in a statement.

Shakira’s first seven-year world tour is now underway. By the end of June, she will have played nearly 50 shows in Latin America, followed by more shows in the US and Canada.

She performed in Lima on Monday night, offering “eternal thanks” to her “beautiful Peruvian audience!! You’ve treated me with such love and care! “!

The tour, which was titled “Las mujeres ya no lloran” (Women Don’t Cry Anymore), began in Rio de Janeiro shortly after she won the Grammy for best Latin pop album.

The singer paid tribute to American immigrant children who are facing deportation under President Donald Trump.

One of the most well-known Latin artists of all time is Shakira, who has sold more than 90 million records worldwide and won numerous awards.
