The eagerly awaited Beatles biopic, starring an Oscar winner, Tracy Beaker star, and White Lotus actor, has four new names.
Sex Education star Aimee Lou Wood will play George Harrison’s wife Pattie Boyd, as Sam Mendes gets to work on a new series of films based on each member of The Beatles.
The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event will be retold by the Skyfall director in the ambitious project, which is currently being called The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event. Aimee, 31, is the cast of Paul McCartney’s beloved wife Linda, who later joined his post-Beatles band Wings. Saoirse Ronan, 31, is the Irish Oscar nominee for the role.
Yoko Ono will be played by Japanese actress Anna Sawai, 33, while British Tracy Beaker star Mia McKenna-Bruce, 28, will play Ringo Starr’s other half Maureen Cox.

Ringo Starr will be played by Saltburn actor Barry Keogan, 33, while George Harrison will be played by Joseph Quinn, a character from Stranger Things. McCartney will be played by Paul Mescal from The Normal Peoples, and Harris Dickinson, who plays John Lennon, will take the place of Harris Dickinson.
Mendes announced the female actors for his new project on Saturday, saying, “Four fascinating and distinctive figures in their own right, and I’m thrilled that we’ve persuaded four of the most talented women working in film today to join this amazing adventure.”
All four films are currently slated for release in April 2028, with Deadline reporting that Mendes described The Beatles as the “most significant band” of all time. He told the outlet: “I had been trying to do a film for years, but I finally gave up.” He said he felt their “story was too big for one film”, adding that a TV series wasn’t right for it.
He remarked, “The epic story had to be told in a way that the whole generation could understand.” I can assure you that there is still room for exploration and that we have succeeded.
The screenplays will be written by Tony Award-winning actor Jack Thorne, Oscar-winning actor Peter Straughan, and BAFTA-winning actor Jez Butterworth. Whether they will collaborate on all of their movies or work on their own productions is not known as of yet.
Mendes stated in a statement that he was honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time and that he was excited to challenge the notion of what a movie vacation would be like. Four films told from four different perspectives, which tell a single story about the most renowned band of all time, are intended to be a uniquely thrilling and epic cinematic experience, according to Phillippa Harris, a partner of Neil Street Productions.
Ringo previously praised the Sam Mendes movie project on social media by saying, “We all support the project. Yes, indeed”.
Commenting on Keoghan being cast to play him in the biopic, Ringo also told Entertainment Tonight: “I think he’s great, I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons. I hope not too many.”
