Sex and the City legend Sarah Jessica Parker was joined at a glitzy event by her famous husband and their son James – and the family resemblance couldn’t have been clearer
Sex and the City icon Sarah Jessica Parker’s grown-up son who she shares with husband Matthew Broderick – has made a rare public appearance with them at an event in LA. All eyes were on the famous couple’s son James, 23, as he hit the red carpet for the event Golden Eve, a precursor to the Golden Globes on 11 January, in Beverly Hills on Tuesday evening.
Sarah, 60 – looking chic as ever in a silver shimmering gown and black jacket – was there to pick up the Carol Burnett Award at the star-studded event. And James, her eldest child – a real chip off the old block – was on hand to give his mum a proud peck on the cheek as they posed together on the red carpet, looking dapper in a black tux.

The SATC star and her husband, 63, tied the knot in 1997 – and are also parents to 16-year-old twin daughters Marion and Tabitha. James – who is an actor like his parents, has already had a guest-star role in an episode of CBS’ anthology crime series Elsbeth alongside his dad.
Sarah’s Carol Burnett Award has been given out each year since 2019 for ‘outstanding contributions to television on or off the screen.’ Presenting the gong, Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes said, “Sarah Jessica Parker’s career embodies the very spirit of the Carol Burnett Award,
“Her trailblazing impact on television and her dedication to storytelling across stage and screen have left an indelible mark on popular culture. We are honored to celebrate her extraordinary contributions to entertainment.’
And Sarah’s Sex And The City co-stars Kristin Davis, Evan Handler and David Eigenberg were all there, clearly delighted to see their co-star collect her award.
Last May, the star revealed that she and her husband would not be paying their kids’ ways – though they could certainly afford to if they wished, with a reported combined fortune of some $245 million.
She explained at the time, “You want for them to be pursuing things that are exciting and challenging and hard and gratifying.
“And [we want them] to be able to ultimately take care of themselves, support themselves – emotionally, financially – and that they can be in the world and be a reliable person to themselves and to other people. And so we talk about work like that.”
Fans were left devastated recently when they said goodbye for the last time to the actress’s legendary on-screen character, writer Carrie Bradshaw, in And Just Like That – a continuation of Secx and the City, which was cancelled last August.
The star will return to our screens next playing Sarah Sanderson alongside Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy in Anne Fletcher’s upcoming three-quel Hocus Pocus 3 for Disney+.
