Senegal walk off pitch in Afcon final over controversial penalty

After Morocco received a contentious stoppage-time penalty in the Africa Cup of Nations final, Senegal’s head coach Pape Thiaw encouraged his team to leave the pitch.

When defender El Hadji Malick Diouf brought down Brahim Diaz in the box in the 98th minute, Morocco was awarded a spot-kick by referee Jean-Jacques Ndala.

Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy left the dressing room to take a break, but Sadio Mane, the team’s captain, and Sadio Mane returned to the field to urge his players to come to an end.
