Selena Gomez was seen using a vape in footage shared by Taylor Swift after her wedding to Benny Blanco, but there’s also been a huge drama after Francia Raisa’s snub
Francia Raisa, the actress who donated a kidney to Selena Gomez, has broken her silence following her surprising absence from the star’s high-profile wedding. The 37 year old was questioned about a supposed rift with Gomez, which reportedly arose due to her displeasure at seeing photos of the star smoking.
Sharp-eyed fans spotted Selena Gomez indulging in a cheeky habit on her wedding day – after she shared behind-the-scenes footage of her preparations alongside best mate Taylor Swift.
In her latest Instagram post this week, she penned heartfelt words for Swift to celebrate her new album, The Life of a Show Girl. “In honor of SHOWGIRL… blessed to have you by my side almost 20 years later gator! I love you @taylorswift forever and always,” she captioned the post, sharing clips and snaps of them beaming from her special day when she wed Benny Blanco.
She featured footage that Swift had recorded of her perched on a chair before a mirror, having her veil positioned – but some followers couldn’t miss that Gomez, 33, appeared to be clutching what resembled a vape in her grasp.
Once she clocked that she was being filmed, she seemed to attempt concealing the gadget in her hands, though it was already too late, as one supporter captured a screenshot and shared it on X, previously Twitter.
“Lmao she covered it too late, I see it,” the user posted. Nevertheless, the responses from her admirers sparked divided opinions, with some finding the incident ‘hilarious’ whilst others branded it ‘crazy.’
“The vape is crazy,” one person responded on X. Another claimed, “Now why is Miss Selena puffing on a Juul in the year 2025. “She definitely tried, but the cover-up came way too late,” someone else typed. “On her wedding day? ! Disgusting!” another person fumed. “This is so endearing to me… oh to be a lovely, lovely bride with a disposable in hand,”A lovely, lovely bride with a disposable in hand,” one person confessed.
The type of vape she was holding remains a mystery, but it’s not the first time she’s been spotted in a similar predicament. In June, a fan account shared footage of Gomez seemingly vaping while getting her hair and makeup done for a night out with mate Taylor Swift on 31 May.
Gomez, who battles lupus and underwent a kidney transplant in 2017, was seen exhaling a vapour-like mist while browsing on her iPhone. Another shot showed her clutching what appeared to be an e-cigarette or vape pen, which typically emits an aerosol containing nicotine, in her left hand as makeup artist Hung Vanngo applied her eyeliner.
Raisa donated a kidney to Gomez, 33, in 2017 after the Spring Breakers star was diagnosed with lupus. Despite giving Gomez a new lease of life through her donation, it seems she was omitted from the guest list for the Only Murders in the Building star’s recent wedding to music producer Benny Blanco.
However, in a recent interview, seemingly filmed at a bookstore event, Raisa wished Gomez well ahead of her wedding while speaking in Spanish. She stated: “I know she’s getting married, and I’m very happy for her. And look… she has a life and she is already a billionaire and I am grateful that I could do that for her,” according to translated subtitles. “Look, from the beginning the doctor told me, it’s a donation.”
“If you’re going to donate a quid to St. Jude or somewhere else, you’re not going to ring up and say, ‘What are you doing with my quid?’ I’m grateful that I am alive and I can say that I have saved a life. I never said anything when that rumour came out that I had gotten angry or something like that because she was smoking. No one knows what’s going on and neither she nor I are talking about it and maybe [one day] we’ll address it.”
When asked what advice she would give to anyone considering organ donation, Raisa stressed that the process is about saving someone’s life, not forming a special bond with them.
In a candid 2018 interview, Raisa confessed that both she and Gomez suffered a bout of depression following the kidney donation procedure, which nearly claimed Gomez’s life after one of her arteries burst during surgery.
