Cassie Ventura gave harrowing testimony for a second consecutive day in the federal sex-trafficking case against hip-hop mogul Sean Combs who complained she “abandoned” him after he viciously beat her in a hotel
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs complained to his badly beaten girlfriend “You’re going to abandon me all alone”, once police arrived at his house after his vicious hotel beating of her, a court has heard.
Cassie Ventura gave harrowing testimony for a second consecutive day in the federal sex-trafficking case against the 55-year-old hip-hop mogul. He has pleaded not guilty to charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs, if convicted, could face up to life in prison.
Ventura told the court about the immediate aftermath of a violent 2016 attack, caught on hotel surveillance footage, that left her with a black eye and swollen lip. When she returned home, she said a close friend was already at her apartment and became visibly upset.
“She was super upset, she had seen both black eyes and busted lips before,” Ventura told jurors. According to the model, her friend called the police. While officers arrived to speak with her, she said she was too afraid to name Combs. “I answered a couple of questions, but when they wanted me to say who I was talking about, I would not. So they left,” she testified.
Prosecutor Emily Johnson showed jurors two selfie photographs Ventura said she took during her Uber ride home from the hotel, visibly documenting her injuries. The 38-year-old testified that she wore sunglasses “because I had a black eye underneath.”
Combs, Ventura said, began frantically texting her. “Call me, the cops are here, you’re going to abandon me all alone,” he wrote, according to text messages read aloud in court. Ventura responded by referencing her professional commitments and the toll the attack had taken: “I have a black eye and a fat lip. You are sick for thinking it’s okay to do what you’ve done. Please stay far away from me.”
When asked why she didn’t reveal Combs’ name to the police, Ventura responded, “Just in that moment, I didn’t want to hurt him that way. It was just too much going on… I wasn’t ready.”
Ventura also gave jurors a disturbing look into the alleged sexual coercion she says she endured throughout their relationship. For her 29th birthday, she said she wanted to go to the Blind Dragon karaoke lounge with friends. But Combs allegedly insisted on hosting what he called a “Freak Off” – a voyeuristic sexual encounter in which Ventura said she was coerced into having sex with male escorts in front of him.
“I told him that I wanted to stay out and celebrate with my friends, and in my mind, I just didn’t want the burden of having to do that at the end of the night,” she testified. “I just wanted to have my birthday.” Ventura said they eventually went to the Blind Dragon “for a bit,” but Combs repeatedly pulled her aside until she gave up. “And we went and had a Freak Off,” she said.
According to Ventura, Combs would later use videos he took from the encounters to manipulate and control her. “He threatened to release the videos, usually when he was angry about something or just really wanted me to fear,” she said.
She recalled a specific incident in which Combs was angry she had started dating another man and threatened to “put out two embarrassing videos.” “I feared for my career, I feared for my family,” Ventura testified. “It’s horrible, it’s disgusting; no one should do that to anyone.”
Prosecutors showed jurors a message Ventura sent to Combs in 2013. The message asked him to delete any videos from his phone and expressed concern about how many people had access to his devices.
She testified that the message was in reference to the “Freak Off” videos. Combs responded that he already said that his iCloud wasn’t on. “All good,” he messaged. Ventura said, despite the assurances, she later saw the videos again. “There were times I was told they were deleted, but I still saw them later,” she said.
Cassie said she suffered crippling health issues after being forced to take part in the hip hop mogul’s days-long ‘freak offs’ with a raft of male escorts, a court has heard. Ventura told his New York trial that she was forced to endure a disturbing pattern of recovery after being made to have sex for days and left high for half the week.
Testifying in federal court, she said methods to recover after the Freak Offs included using IV fluids, professional massages, and, frequently, opiates, some of which she claimed were supplied by Combs himself. “Opiates made me feel numb, which is why I relied on them so heavily,” Ventura said.
The physical toll, she testified, was relentless. Ventura said she developed chronic gastrointestinal issues from prolonged drug use and suffered frequent urinary tract infections due to the repeated “Freak Offs.” The infections became so routine, she added, that she often endured them during the encounters themselves, and over time, standard medications stopped being effective.
The trial continues.
