Scott Mills kept a big secret over the holidays until it was finally revealed to his family on Boxing Day while watching TV.

Scott Mills has shared the hilarious moment his dad found out he was on The Masked Singer Christmas special.

The Radio 2 DJ was revealed to be the Figgy Pudding in the special episode that aired on Boxing Day and impressively came runner-up to Mistletoe, which turned out to be TV legend Dermot O’Leary.

Taking to Instagram to share a clip of his dad Pete and partner Suzi watching the ITV show, he wrote over the top: “My dad doesn’t know I’m the figgy pudding on The Masked Singer.”

As Suzi defends Scott while singing in his disguise, his father is reportedly heard saying, “He can sing,” before revealing that she thinks Michael Ball, the singer and West End star, is the one wearing the mask.

Suzi continued, “Who is it? ” Michael Ball ? Wouldn’t it be, would it? He sounds familiar to me. It sounds like Michael, but that wouldn’t make him any more, wouldn’t it? “

They’re not always singers, isn’t he, Pete said as he snuck into what might have been figgy pudding? Scott responded, “No, they’re hardly ever singers.”

When she said, “Yeah, that is him,” an obstinate Suzi was still persuaded her guess was accurate. I believe Michael Ball is him.

So when Figgy Pudding was revealed to be their own family member Scott by judge Maya Jama, both Suzi and Pete laughed their heads off as Suzi exclaimed: “Bloody hell, Scott!” Then a somewhat sheepish looking Pete raised his hand up in support of his son and said: “I can’t believe it.”

Appearing on the show topped off a great year for 51-year-old Scott who took over Zoe Ball’s breakfast show on Radio 2 in January – which he admitted to The Mirror was a job he “never expected to be offered”.

Before that he hosted the Scott Mills show on BBC Radio 1 from 2004 to 2022. He made the move over to Radio 2 in October 2022 replacing Steve Wright in the weekday afternoon slot before taking over breakfast from Zoe in early 2025.

I feel like this at this time in my life, especially in this industry when many people would think you are done, said the 16-year-old who started his DJ career with local Hampshire radio station Power FM, which is now a part of Capital FM. Although I never anticipated receiving this, it seems appropriate at the time. The time of my life is just right.

It’s like returning home with all of my former friends, including Trevor Nelson, Sara Cox, Jo Whiley, and Vernon Kay. I’m so happy that all the pop stars I interviewed on Radio 1 and haven’t seen in a while are now doing the same thing on Radio 2. It feels like 2002 again. “

He continued, “My life is currently in such a fantastic state. My life is the best I can be. I’m much more relaxed and energized. There is nothing more I want than to live in a house with my husband and a dog.
