The city of Liverpool has received a message from Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson. A car struck the crowd during the parade celebration on Monday as Liverpool FC fans were celebrating their Premier League victory.
A dark-grey people-carrier was seen beeping its horn as it drove through the crowd, hitting dozens of fans. Following the incident on Monday, Merseyside Police confirmed that a 53-year-old man from West Derby had been detained on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving, and driving while intoxicated through drugs.
The organization also stated that it believes the car that crashed into Liverpool’s Premier League trophy parade was a result of an ambulance entering a busy central city street. Following the incident on Water Street in the city center, Detective Chief Superintendent Karen Jaundrill reported that there were 65 confirmed casualties.
11 people remained in the hospital on Tuesday, but are still in a stable condition, despite the presence of more than 50 patients, including children.
