For the Lagos Blue Rail Line Corridor, the Lagos State government has unveiled three brand-new train sets with four coaches each.

At the Iganmu Train Station, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu unveiled the new trains. He claimed that the state’s commitment to improving the mass transit system was significant.

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) governor credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering support for the timely delivery of the trains.

According to him, the procurement complied with Lagos’ THEMES Plus development agenda and the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He predicted that “these new trains will double the number of passengers and shorten the wait times,” as well as provide commuters with more predictable and effective travel options.

He added that the state government is working to improve the quality of life for the people and to reduce the amount of time people travel across the state.

He added that now trains would arrive every 10 to 15 minutes, significantly reducing congestion and increasing commuter confidence.

The governor further provided an update on the second phase of the Blue Rail Line project, which runs from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, assuring Lagosians that construction is set to be finished by 2026.

He added that, as part of longer-range efforts to reduce transportation times and costs for residents, more rolling stock is anticipated for the Red Line rail corridor by the end of the year.

The new train sets are a part of a larger plan to modernize Lagos’ transportation system and establish the state as a model for sustainable urban mobility in Africa.
