Reality TV star Sam Thompson has revealed to his best pal Pete Wicks on their podcast that he is set to undergo surgery which will leave him unable to talk
Sam Thompson has revealed he is set to have surgery that will leave him unable to talk. The presenter has confirmed he requires the operation later this year. He opened up on the procedure while talking to his best pal Pete Wicks on their Staying Relevant podcast. It came as Pete also announced health issues of his own.
The former TOWIE star, 37, took a tumble at home over the festive time and is looking for advice. He previously missed an appointment for the issue last month. But as he spoke about his concern, Sam jumped in to say: “That’s two men who are going for surgery this year.” Pete then said: “Yes, because Sam…

“I don’t know if we are allowed to talk about it, it was one of the announcements we were going to wait for later, Sam is looking to go into music. So he is having some surgery on his vocal cords.”
Sam foiled any potential joke when he questioned what music he was getting involved in. But as Pete got serious and asked for clarification on the surgery, Sam explained what was the issue.
“I’ve got a cyst on my vocal cords,” he told his mate. “I’m having that taken out, which is going to be mad because it means I have three days of vocal rest.”
According to the NHS, the nodules are non-malignant, small swellings. The organisation says they arise on the edges of the vocal cords, which are situated in the voice box. They are often formed when the vocal cords come together with too great a force over a long period of time.
It remains to be seen whether Sam’s new girlfriend will be by his side throughout the procedure. He had earlier confessed his relationship update to pal Pete on an edition of the podcast.
He gushed: “I’ve got a girlfriend. I’ve got a girlfriend!” And he admitted: “You know, I wouldn’t be dating someone this amount of time if I didn’t think it had legs to last.”
Sam and Talitha Balinska went public with their relationship last month and spent Christmas together. And he recently shared a new loved-up selfie with his girlfriend.
In a snap shared last week Sam was seen cuddling his cat on a sofa. He captioned the image: “Starting 2026 as I mean to go on.” The fact that Sam was alone with his cat in the photo sparked speculation that he was single.
But a more recent image put those rumours to rest. He took to his Instagram stories to share a selfie of him and Talitha.
The duo were all smiles in the photo. And Sam put a red heart emoji on the photo too.
