Betfred Super League
Red Devils of Salford (12) 16
Goals: Milnes 2
Wakefield Trinity (18) 52
As their crisis-hit season came to an end, Red Devils of Salford fans protested against the club’s ownership at CorpAcq Stadium, which the newly renamed CorpAcq Stadium was known.
After trailing Salford by 12 points early, the sixth-placed visitors scored nine tries.
As their 700th regular game of Super League looks to be their last for the foreseeable future, some home fans protested before the game, and some even entered the field of play late in the second half and after the final goal.
Salford have experienced several late payments from the club, a “welfare concerns” incident, a “welfare petition” filed against the club, and two other meetings have been adjourned.
With a points difference of -895, they have won just three games this season and finished six points adrift at the bottom of the table.
Esan Masters opened the scoring with a strong opening from the hosts before crashing over for his third try of the season in Super League.
Salford’s Nathan Connell then successfully beat Mason Lino’s high kick to full-back Jack Walker before setting up Connell, who went half the way through the scoring.
Renouf Atoni of Wakefield fought his way past Jowitt to score and put the visitors on the board just before the halfway point.
A six was awarded to Salford again by referee Jack Smith as Salford began to lose discipline. Hooker Liam Hood saw a gap to dart over from the dummy half, and Trinity were level after Lino added the extras.

Wakefield scored their fourth try after Salford fans vented their disapproval of the club’s ownership from the stands when Ky Rodwell lobbed a short ball over the sticks.
Wakefield took the first lead with a superb line break from Jake Trueman before Cameron Scott superbly scored in the right corner to score the visitors’ fifth try of the night.
Wakefield’s skill and experience became more apparent as the match progressed, and Scott scored his second try from the right before sliding over the line.
Following a kick chase, Johnstone pounced on to a loose ball to dive over Connell’s second before the end.
Smith and Josh Griffin of Wakefield had a chance to score under the sticks during the line break, but Scott finished with a hat-trick after collecting a high kick.
Pitch invasion “was not aggressive”- response
Daryl Powell, the head coach for Wakefield, told BBC Radio Leeds:
“I believed Salford came out and played with great speed and energy. There was a little chaos and Salford contributed to that chaos because Max [Jowitt] gets knocked out and we didn’t really have any players who played full-back consistently.
“I thought our second-half performance was outstanding. We appeared to be aggressive and direct. “The first half was pure carnage.
It wasn’t aggressive, according to [On the pitch invasion] In the past, I’ve participated in a few of these, and I’ve never heard back, but this one wasn’t as hostile. Although it wasn’t particularly bad, it still feels uncomfortable.
Changes: Shaw, Warren, Murphy, and Macdonald.
Jowitt, Myers, Scott, Pratt, Johnstone, Trueman, Lino, McMeeken, Hood, Faatili, Nikotemo, Storton, Pitts, and Wakefield Trinity.
