As she prepares for the Australian Open first round of next week, the world number one destroyed Cristina Bucsa in the Brisbane International tournament on Tuesday.
In the second round of the season-opening tournament in Queensland, Australia, Sabalenka defeated the Spaniard 66-0, 6-1 in just 48 minutes.
She fought a formidable opponent in the first set in just 22 minutes and won the second set in just 26 minutes.
The victory over the world number 50 will serve as a warning to the Melbourne title hopefuls, where Sabalenka will attempt to win her third Australian Open title in four years.
Sabalenka argued that the merit of the December 28 exhibition in Dubai against the mysterious but content Kyrgios was due to how well she performed in her first game of the season.
She said, “The intensity is completely different when you play against a guy.”
“Especially when there is Nick, who is drop-shotting every other shot, so you move a lot,” I thought. “There was great fitness for me.
And I was like, “Wow, let’s move around, you know. ” And today.
It was enjoyable during that exhibition. She continued, “It was a great challenge.”
“I believe we drew a lot of attention to tennis,” she said. It was about demonstrating that tennis can be incredibly important, not to prove it to anyone.
