While spinning tunes on his BBC Radio 2 show last Saturday (March 29), the presenter received a request from a caller, Luca, to play one particular song.

On finding out which out tune he was going to play live on air, Rylan appeared totally smitten with the choice, exclaiming: “Oh my God, Luca! I’ve just seen what track you’ve chosen and I think I might propose to you!”

To add to the playful banter, the chuckling caller threw an open invitation Rylan’s way for a unconventional relationship, quipping: “Oh, please! You’re going to be the third in the relationship, then”.

Rylan replied: “That’s fine, babe. I’m happy to be a third wheel. I’m a busy boy”.

Turning up the charm, Luca didn’t hesitate to tell Rylan that his other half is a big fan, tempting the TV favourite with: “Actually, my boyfriend really loves you and he wants to invite you for dinner in our home”.

The song, Gadjo’s 2006 hit So Many Times, took Rylan on a trip down memory lane as he recalled listening to it on repeat during his days as a hairdresser before he found fame on The X Factor.

“I was working at Beverly Cobella and I remember that this was the song that I used to listen to on the train”, he said.

While Rylan jokingly hinted at matrimonial intentions for Luca’s pick, he was once married before. He met his ex-husband Dan Neal on Celebrity Big Brother in 2013 and they tied the knot two years later.

However, after six years together, it was announced that the pair had divorced, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Outside his personal life, Rylan’s career has been on an upward trajectory in recent years since breaking out on The X Factor. He makes frequent appearances on This Morning, hosted the short-lived reboot of Supermarket Sweep and in 2019, he took over Zoe Ball’s afternoon slot on BBC Radio 2, hosting his own show, Rylan on Saturday.
