Under the lights at Twickenham Stadium, Bristol hammered the Harlequins 40-14 in an incredible attacking display.

The Bears ran in six tries in Quins’ annual “Big Game,” winning by 26 points, to take the title.

At the break, the visitors took a ruthless 26-0 lead over a Harlequins side that had occasionally produced some good rugby themselves thanks to unanswered scores from Kalaveti Ravouvou, Joe Batley, Gabriel Oghre, and Louis Rees-Zammit.

Before Quins finally got on the board through Rodrigo Isgro, the Bears were 14-14 and Tom Jordan was the sin-bin’s player, Santiago Grondona added another.

The men’s teams took to the field for a stunning display of lights and fireworks after Harlequins had defeated them 38-12 earlier in the afternoon’s Prem Women’s Rugby game.

And Bristol was the bright spot right away as they fought back from a difficult defeat.

The Bears defense was on par with everything Quins had to offer, and the visitors’ four devastating attacks gave them a strong grip on the game.

After receiving a lovely-weighted pass from Tom Jordan, Ravouvou dotted down in the corner before Batley rounded off a quick move involving Jordan, Ravouvou, and Benhard Janse van Rensburg.

Before Rees-Zammit scored the try of the half, Oghre soared through the middle, chipping over full-back Nick David, and diving over the line as Harlequins went in at the break with zero on the scoreboard.

And with the hosts running through for what appeared to be an inevitable fifth try within three minutes of the restart, Jack Walker was given offside on his own try-line and Grondona was reduced to 14 players.

Just before the hour, Jordan was shown a yellow card, and the home team finally gave the crowded Twickenham crowd cheers as substitute Isgro eventually dived over to get his side back on the board.

Genge, an England prop who had been injured but was only replaced, ran 50 meters and scored a stunning try from lineout.

Sam Riley scored, but play was resumed after replays revealed Isgro’s foot had touched the line, to sum up Harlequins’ luck.
