Ruth Jones, the husband of David Peet, and Gavin and Stacey icon, recently shocked the media when they revealed one of their new relationships.
TV icon Ruth Jones and estranged husband David Peet shocked fans when they recently released a statement on their split. The couple, who were married for 26 years, are now legally separated but “remain good friends” as they explained the reason behind their split in a statement shared to fans on Wednesday.
They stated in a statement to the PA news agency that they had already legally split up after 18 months of dating. Our friendship endures. David and Ruth have been living together in Canada, where he is currently residing.

After almost three decades of marriage, the couple split, with Ruth being the stepmother to Louise, Alex, and Fiona, Louise’s three children.
They first met when they both started dating at BBC Wales’ radio division, where they soon started falling in love once they started speaking.
She previously admitted to talking to him on the phone before meeting him in a joke about how she met him in an interview with The Scotsman.
Ruth told The Independent in 2008 that her husband, who has since moved on with a new partner, “has a very sharp mind combined with a dry Yorkshire wit, making him a naturally funny man.”
They made eye contact while filming the first episode of a BBC comedy in the early 1990s. Although David and his wife were married at the time, Ruth later admitted that there was a relationship between David’s divorce and the start of their relationship.
One doesn’t want to do things because affairs cause a lot of pain, she said. You don’t want to end people’s lives by making them suffer.
They established Tidy Productions, a production company that produced the popular sitcom Gavin & Stacey, after their lengthy marriage, and moved to Cardiff.
Ruth once discussed her happiness as a stepmother to David’s children, despite being primarily private about her marriage.
Ruth remarked to the Daily Mail, “It just didn’t happen.” Not a choice, either. I have no burning desire to have children. If you do, and you discover that you are unable to have them, I find it heartbreaking. I enjoy being a stepmom because I get to experience all the joys of motherhood without the discomfort of childbirth.
And she expressed her adoration for her stepmoon in The Scotsman about the “joys of parenthood without giving birth.” You take things as they come, she gushed.
Unfortunately, the couple ended their relationship after more than 20 years of dating. This week, they said in a statement that they “maintenance good friends.”
