Russell Brand is facing two new counts of rape and sexual assault in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday as he appeared via video link.
What is known about the Russell Brand bailing decision?
- Russell Brand is facing two additional rape and sexual assault counts in relation to two additional women, both of which are alleged to have occurred in 2009, in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. The comedian made an American-style video link appearance.
- The Metropolitan Police’s Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi stated in December that “specially trained officers continue to support the women who have made reports, including those related to the two new charges.” Detectives urge anyone with information to contact the police or anyone who is affected by this case to come forward and speak with the Met’s investigation, which is still ongoing.
- Four other women are already facing allegations of sexual offences against Brand. He was denied last year, and he will go on trial in June.
- The actor was released on bail before making a second appearance at Southwark Crown Court on February 17th. On the video link, he had already been there.
- He released a video statement in December of last year, the day he was charged with the new rape and sexual assault charge.
