Following his spat with former Marseille teammate Adrien Rabiot, England Under-21 World Cup winner Jonathan Rowe has left for Bologna.

The 22-year-old has a four-year contract, according to Italian media, for which a fee of 19.5 million euros (16.8 million) had been agreed.

After a 1-0 defeat at Rennes in Marseille’s opening Ligue 1 game on Friday, August 15, Rowe and French midfielder Rabiot, 30, had an argument with them on the day of the match.

The Italian admitted that for the first time in his career, “I didn’t know what to say or do.”

It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen.” I’m from the street and have seen fights before, but this is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

With a 3-2 victory over Germany in Bratislava in June, Rowe led England to a second successive U21 Euros crown after coming off the bench one minute into extra time.

He made the initial loan move to Marseille from Norwich in August 2024, scoring three goals in 31 games there.
