Rosamund Pike, a star in Hollywood, claims that a fugitive snatcher punched her as they took her phone from her hand while she spoke to her mother, who was also a victim.
James Bond star Rosamund Pike has confessed to being punched in the face by a thief who snatched her mobile phone. The actress detailed how she was violently attacked by the mugger on a bicycle as she spoke to her mother on the phone while walking down the street.
Rosamund, 46, admitted she had “15 minutes” of hell during the crime which occurred in 2006. She revealed how her mother Caroline Friend heard her scream in terror and was distraught not knowing what had happened to her until she got access to another phone to call her back. Rosamund told Magic Radio: “I was on the phone to my mother — on a mobile phone walking along a road — and I was mugged.
She only heard me scream and a thud as the phone went dead because the phone was stolen. Rosamund described the mugger as a youngster who struck her in the cheek as he speedily passed her on a bicycle.
She explained how the assailant allegedly used her phone to steal her phone, leaving her with a blemished face as a result. One of the many celebrities who have fallen for the phone-snatching craze in London is Rosamund.
Former tennis player Annabel Croft was waiting for a taxi outside King’s Cross station last year when her mobile was stolen “clean out of her hands.” She shared on Instagram : “I just wanted to warn people who are on their own in London. I just got mugged waiting for a taxi outside King’s Cross St Pancreas.
The man was wearing a black balaclava while riding a bike. He slammed straight at me and removed my phone. I got it back after he rode away with it, but luckily he dropped it. “Terrifying”
Television presenter Kym Marsh also fell foul of phone thieves when she had her mobile snatched from her hand on a London street in March.
She told her co-host Gethin Jones on BBC’s Morning Live, “It’s quite a scary thing to happen to you, you’re walking down a road and suddenly something’s taken out of your hand.”
And that was taken from me about a fortnight ago. But I’m so glad I’m alright.
As e-bike riders and members of gangs travel to steal devices while making quick getaways in London, there has been a rise in phone snatching crimes. The random attacks that are taking place all over the city leave victims powerless and terrified.
A mobile phone reported stolen in London every six minutes is now estimated according to data.
