Less than a week after the German ruled himself out of the running, Rangers are close to appointing Danny Rohl as their new head coach.

Following intensive discussion, a deal to bring Kevin Muscat to Ibrox brokered.

Some at Ibrox favored Rohl, whose previous managerial position was with Sheffield Wednesday in the English Championship, before moving to Muscat.

Rangers claim that they are looking to appoint a replacement for Russell Martin in the upcoming days and that negotiations have continued with a number of candidates.

Rangers finished eighth in the league, nine points clear of leaders Celtic and two more adrift of leaders Heart of Midlothian after 17 games on October.

Under Martin, Rangers also lost both of their Europa League games and were unable to reach the Champions League.
