After agreeing to a three-year deal with Washington Spirit, Trinity Rodman, the forward, has become the highest-paid female footballer in the world, according to her agent.

Since her previous contract with the Spirit expired on December 31st, the 23-year-old is the daughter of former NBA star Dennis Rodman.

Rodman will remain with Spirit until 2028, though her new agreement, worth a rumored $2 million (1. 5 million), includes bonuses.

Rodman will become the highest-paid female football player in the world, according to her agent, Mike Senkowski, according to Senkowski’s report to ESPN.

“I believe it to be a significant and revolutionary moment right now.” What it feels like is beyond words, in my opinion.

Aitana Bonmati, a midfielder for Barcelona and winner of the Ballon d’Or in 2023, 2024, and 2025, reportedly earned the most money for women before Rodman’s deal.

The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) had a salary cap of $3.5 million ($2.6 million) per team as of 2025.

However, the NWSL board of governors approved a new “High Impact Player” rule in December that made it possible for teams to spend up to $1 million (£760, 000) on players who met a certain set of criteria.

Trinity is a generational player, but more importantly, she represents the future of women’s soccer, according to Washington Spirit owner Michele Kang.

In her first season in 2021, Rodman was named the NWSL Rookie of the Year and helped Spirit capture the NWSL title.

Since making her debut in 2022, she has won 47 caps for the United States.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the USA won gold, she scored three goals.

Analysis: “Spirit had to fight to keep Rodman.”

The most successful clubs in Europe were interested in Rodman’s future because it had the potential to acquire a world-class player in the free market.

Chelsea, the team that had been monitoring her situation, was one of the clubs that would be willing to intervene if Rodman’s NWSL bid had failed.

With the league and Washington Spirit battling legal issues to keep one of their best talents, this has been a situation in the US for the first time.

If Rodman, 23, were not able to keep her, she has the potential to become that player. That would undoubtedly be a significant blow to the NWSL.

Naomi Girma and Alyssa Thompson, both from the USA, left for Chelsea, and Sam Coffey, a midfielder, signed for Manchester City in January.

Women’s soccer’s NWSL had been a model for many years, but now the WSL and the Liga MX Femenil are among the organizations that are paying a lot for player transfers and wages.

Aitana Bonmati and Alexia Putellas, two players who have won the last five Ballon d’Or prizes, are Barcelona’s stars, but the club is struggling financially.
