Nick Reiner has been charged with the murders of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, but reportedly thinks there is a conspiracy against him
Nick Reiner is said to think there is a “conspiracy” against him following the murders of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner. The 32-year-old is currently behind bars after being charged with deaths of the duo last month.
Legendary filmmaker Rob and his wife of 36 years, Michelle, were found dead in December. Troubled son Nick was charged shortly after with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of his parents. It’s alleged he used a knife.
Nick, who is one of the Reiners’ three children, is currently being held without bail and was initially put on suicide watch in jail. He was initially put under heightened supervision inside.

But it’s now claimed the screenwriter doesn’t understand why he is in prison. According to TMZ, Nick is aware he killed his parents but believes the people who put him behind bars are engaged in a “conspiracy” against him.
A source told the publication, which created TMZ Investigates The Reiner Murders: What Really Happened, that Nick’s mental spiral occurred around a month before the death of his parents. It’s claimed that doctors changed the medication he was taking for schizoaffective disorder.
The disorder is a severe mental illness that causes delusions, hallucinations, and mania. It’s alleged that the medication made Nick increasingly dangerous and erratic.
His disorder was claimed last month. The Los Angeles Times, KNBC and TMZ all reported that Nick had been diagnosed with schizophrenia before the killing. Sources told the latter that the medication he was on left him “erratic and dangerous”.
Two sources with first-hand knowledge about Nick claim that he was receiving treatment from a psychiatrist for mental health issues. In the month preceding the killings, Nick’s conduct allegedly had become “alarming.”
It’s thought Nick has been in solitary confinement recently at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. According to PEOPLE, he was also required to wear a suicide-prevention smock at all times. However, it’s said this has since changed.
A sheriff source told the publication that while he is no longer on suicide watch, Nick will remain in High Observation Housing (HOH) unless a judge or court hearing deems otherwise. He will continue to be closely guarded in solitary confinement.
Prosecutors have not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty. However, it is legal in the state and, therefore, a possibility. At the time of Nick’s arrest and charge, Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman released a statement.
He said: “I’m here to announce that our office will be filing charges against Nick Reiner, accused of killing his parents. These charges will be two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders.
“He also faces a special allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon, that being a knife.”
