A medical examiner as issued an update in the double murder case of Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele as their son Nick has been charged with their deaths
A medical examiner has provided an update into the tragic deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner. The duo were found dead at home in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Now, the expert has reported Hollywood director Rob’s death was caused by “multiple sharp force injuries”. It comes after Rob and Michele’s 32-year-old son was charged with both of their murders.
Nick Reiner appeared in court on Wednesday for the first time since he was arrested in connection with his parents ‘ deaths. He waived his right to enter a plea at his arraignment hearing.
At the hearing, Nick was seen with no shirt and in shackles. He looked to have been wearing a suicide prevention vest.
During the hearing, Nick spoke only to say three words. The judge prevented him from being filmed at the hearing, with the next being set for 7 January. There, he may enter a plea.
Speaking outside of the court on Wednesday, Nick’s lawyer Alan Jackson said there were “complex and serious issues” at play. He went on to ask people not to “rush to judgement” before saying nothing substantive had happened in the case today.
Rob and his wife Michele are reported to have been “in bed” when they died. It’s said the body of filmmaking legend Rob was found at their Brentwood mansion on Sunday by their daughter, Romy. It’s alleged a paramedic later told her that her mum Michele had also died.
It’s alleged the couple had their throats slit. A source told the Daily Mail whoever killed them went there “in the middle of the night” and slit their throats. They added: “They were in bed when that happened”.
LAPD sources told TMZ that “rigor mortis appeared to have set in Rob and Michele’s bodies”, and this would mean that the pair had been dead for hours by the time they were discovered.
On Wednesday, Romy and her brother Jake spoke for the first time following the death of their parents and their brother’s arrest. In a joint statement, they said: “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day.
” The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents, they were our best friends.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life. We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave”.
It followed a family statement following the deaths. A spokesperson for the family said at the time: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner.
” We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time. “
