Rivers Govt Cancels Independence Day Parade

The parade was originally scheduled for Wednesday, October 1 as part of festivities to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th year of independence, but the Rivers State government has canceled it.

Friday Dede, the Permanent Secretary, said in a statement that the decision complied with the Federal Government’s pronouncements.

He expressed his regret for the public’s potential apprehension as a result of the cancellation.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE GOVERNMENT

The Parade scheduled for the state’s Sharks Stadium on Wednesday October 1st, in honor of the state’s 65th Independence Day, has been canceled in accordance with the announcement of the Federal Government.

We regret any inconvenience this cancellation may have caused.
