Second Test match between Australia and the British and Irish Lions

Melbourne Cricket Ground Date: Saturday, July 26; 11:00 BST

Garry Ringrose withdrew from the side after experiencing concussion during training and was selected for the British and Irish Lions team to face Australia in the second Test on Saturday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

A record nine Irishmen, including seven from Leinster, are included in Andy Farrell’s team, along with bench spots for Owen Farrell and Jac Morgan.

The main sticking point, however, was the Ringrose story.

After telling Andy Farrell he wasn’t right, the Irishman left the team after being chosen ahead of Huw Jones.

A head injury also prevented him from being chosen for the first Test.

Aki may have started ahead of Tuipulotu in any case despite his tight hamstring.

For the first time since the Queensland Reds game, Aki and Jones make their debut in midfield.

Tommy Freeman and James Lowe, both underperforming wings, keep Hugo Keenan in place at full-back.

After failing to make an impact in the 27-19 victory in the first Test, Andrew Porter replaces Ellis Genge at loosehead. This change may be intended to strengthen the Lions bench.

Dan Sheehan and Tadhg Furlong are in the front row, which is entirely Irish.

With Joe McCarthy sidelined due to injury, Ollie Chessum and Maro Itoje are locked, with Farrell choosing the same back row that Saturday caused the Wallabies such harm.

Morgan, the only Welshman in the lineup, has been chosen to make his Test debut at the MCG.

Ringrose is saluted by Farrell and Itoje.

Ringrose suffered a first head injury during the ACT Brumbies game in Canberra, and now he has been dealt yet another blow, destroying all of his Test chances once more.

Garry was actually chosen, according to Farrell, but he was forced to withdraw during training today.

“It’s head-related once more. As I walked off the field, it literally meant something. He addressed me, and that’s when it’s mentioned.

There wasn’t therefore any incident. Well in advance of Tuesday, he was feeling well, and he was prepared to play (against the First Nations and the Pasifika XV).

“No incident at all throughout the game, not even yesterday,” he declared. However, with these kinds of things, players are becoming very adept at coming clean with their feelings, so it was a no-brainer to change.”

All players were able to learn from Ringrose’s sincerity and selflessness.

Farrell responded, “It actually is.” Because it’s difficult to do that, I immediately thought the same thing when he mentioned it.

It’s very simple to lie and be truthless without being honest and open.

“It was very big of him and the right decision to make,” he said. “It was completely for the team as well as for Garry.”

Farrell’s sentiments were shared by Captain Maro Itoje.

First of all, he said, “I’m completely devastated for Garry.”

“I played under-20s against Garry,” I said. It has been a real privilege and honor to play with him and get to know him over the past few months.

I’m ashamed that he is in this position. But it demonstrates how selfless a man is in comparison.

Injury prevents Tuipulotu’s “fairytale” return home.

Tuipulotu has mentioned his excitement for a second time during this tour a few times.

After a stellar performance in the opening Test in Brisbane, it was assumed he would start in Melbourne, but he is not.

We made the decision to go with Bundee because it affects how you might feel when you have a little bit of a tight hamstring, according to Farrell.

Sione will be “absolutely gutted,” Sione said, “but he also understands rugby.” Not every fairy tale is a book.

Sione is a “team player.” Anyone who was injured or not chosen for the squad will also benefit. Every single one of them has been rowing forward, putting the team first, to a man.

Farrell praised Jones and Aki on a new midfield pairing that hasn’t been utilized since the Queensland game, saying, “They’ll be good.

“The combinations have been absolutely fine together at this stage of the tour, and well before this stage of the tour actually.” Bundee and Huw will fight head-to-head in a similar way to any other partnership.

Bundee and Sione are very similar in many ways, both as direct as they are brutally honest and as they are combative, and they are exactly what you want to achieve in terms of success.

Farrell is attempting to destroy Lions history.

The Wallabies return hookers Dave Porecki and Will Skelton and Rob Valetini.

A 6-2 bench has been chosen by coach Joe Schmidt.

We have another chance to demonstrate that we are far superior to what we showed in the first Test, according to Farrell, who firmly believes that.

“We have the privilege of having the chance to do something special and, hopefully, preserve a bit of history,” we say.

It’s a hell of a test because “there’s a determined Australian side that’s going to try to stop us from doing that.”
