This season, Sunderland cannot be toppled away.

Blackburn Rovers, who was the last newly-promoted team to start a Premier League season unbeaten in seven home games, was a whopping 24 years ago in 2001-2002.

The Black Cats have matched them, surviving a clash with Arsenal’s top team and coming back from two goals down to beat Bournemouth to record a frantic 3-2 victory.

Fourth-place Sunderland have been fueled by their recent form at Stadium of Light.

Only Brighton, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Brighton, and Arsenal can boast an unbeaten home record in the English top flight this season.

After his side beat Bournemouth, manager Regis Le Bris refuses to get carried away, saying “our first goal is we want to reach 40 points.”

Sunderland’s best start since 1999: the statistics

Unbeaten home run by Sunderland

You can feel the connection, according to the statement from the stadium.

Sunderland started poorly against Bournemouth on Saturday.

After seven minutes, Amine Adli gave the visitors a second lead before Tyler Adams added a stunning strike from inside the circle eight minutes later.

When Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott was found guilty of taking out Reinildo from behind, the penalty kick was buried by Enzo Le Fee, who had given the hosts a chance to regain control of the match.

Djordje Petrovic’s near post was caught by Bertrand Traore’s low-driven strike, which gave Sunderland the lead.

And Le Fee’s corner was headed in by substitute Brian Brobbey in the 69th minute, complete the turnaround.

Sunderland defender Dan Ballard told BBC Match of the Day that “the team and the crowd believed and there was some turnaround in the end.”

When we reached that first goal, they resisted and carried us forward. They push us over the line when we’re holding on to a lead.

Le Bris, the manager, continued on BBC Match of the Day: “I think this team has a great atmosphere in the stands, so they will react if we give a lot on the pitch.”

We created this atmosphere, and we deserved to triumph, according to the statement.

Sunderland has already collected more points at Stadium of Light this campaign (15) than they did during their entire top flight campaign (14 points in 2016-17). This is a record for Sunderland.

They also won their first Premier League game by going two goals up on their 188th try.

Sunderland are currently “riding a wave.” Former captain Lee Cattermole told BBC Radio 5 Live, “They’re getting through tough moments in the season, and the belief is there as a team.”

The connection between the players and supporters can be felt in the stadium. Right in their path are the fans.

The manager deserves a lot of praise for what they did. Everyone inside this stadium was aware of the magnitude of this game. To win the game by 3-2 after going from being 2-0 down is a testament to the importance of this place.
