This week, Jeremy Clarkson’s most recent book will be released, and Richard Osman thinks the star wants to make a Christmas bestseller.

Richard Osman branded Jeremy Clarkson a “coward” ahead of a major career launch. The former Top Gear star preparing to release his latest book about life on Diddly Squat Farm.

Diddly Squat: The Farmer’s Dog is set to hit the shelves later this week. It comes as authors prepare to battle it out for the coveted Christmas number one spot.

September to November is considered a peak time for releasing books in a bid to capitalise on Christmas spending. Richard however, a best-selling author with his Thursday Murder Club series, believes Jeremy’s book is being released later to increase sales.

Richard stated on his podcast The Rest is Entertainment that Clarkson is working on a novel about Diddly Squats and is working on them quite close to Christmas.

It increases your chances of becoming the Christmas number one. He’s coming out late in an effort to do it if he had any guts at all, if he had any kind of man.

Richard however has tipped Charlie Mackesy for the coveted number one spot this Christmas. His last book, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, was transformed into an animated adaptation for BBC One in Christmas 2022.

Always Remember, his most recent book, was released on October 9. Always Remember, a new book by Richard Rubin, is out with the same characters, and I believe it will be our Christmas bestseller.

“I’d like to be the book that has the highest sales, but just in that very, very last week, which is the big one,” she said. Because I want to sell more than everyone else, I want to sell more.

Richard anticipates that the Guinness World Records 2025, which was named the book’s best-selling year last year, will once again compete for the title. He stated that the Guinness Book of Records “is always fighting.”

It was actually the first item on the list for Christmas last year. That makes that a possibility.

Richard also highlighted a host of celebrity memoirs that could sell well this year. These include autobiographies from actor Sir Anthony Hopkins, Olympian Sir Bradley Wiggins, footballer Paul Gascoigne and Strictly Come Dancing winner Chris McCausland.

Susie Wolf’s Driven is expected to be a best-seller this holiday season, according to him. He continued, “F1 and similar products sell incredibly well.

“Guy Martin, who does all the kind of motorbike shows and stunt shows on Channel 4, his autobiographies always sell like crazy.”
