In a social media post this afternoon, Richard revealed the heartbreaking news that his 80-year-old wife of almost 50 years had passed away. Unfortunately, she passed away just three months before the couple was scheduled to honor their 50th wedding anniversary.

He said he was heartbroken to learn that Joan, my wife and partner for 50 years, has passed away by sharing a photo of a smiling Joan.

He went on to say: “She was the most wonderful mum and grandmum our kids and grandkids could have ever wished for. She was my best friend, my rock, my guiding light, my world. Love you forever, Joan x.”

Richard attributed Joan to some of his biggest business victories, calling her his “constant rock” and a “steady source of wisdom.” Now That’s What I Call Music! is a slogan that they all came up with. which eventually became the best-selling album series in history.

Richard claims Joan also owes him Necker Island. The entrepreneur explained how he became the owner of the private island he now calls home by revealing that, “Two years after we first met, I wanted to show Joan a grand gesture of affection.

I called the people selling the beautiful island in the British Virgin Islands to get more information. I had no money to purchase Virgin Records when we were in our early years, but try to tell a fool in love!

“The realtor made me travel to the island for a fee. Before we knew it, we gazed down over our future home while we were in the sky. I first experienced love at first sight the second time… Without Joan, I wouldn’t have been able to do everything, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
