The Lagos State Government has made an appeal to the Medical Guild, which represents every medical and dental professional in its employ, to put an end to its warning strike over alleged unilateral salary reductions and other issues.
The leadership of the Medical Guild is currently being looked into, according to a statement from the state ministry of health.
On Monday, July 28, 2025, the Medical Guild had earlier announced the start of a three-day warning strike over salary reductions.
The doctors added that if their demands are not met, an indefinite strike would begin right away and that the Lagos State government would receive a 21-day ultimatum following the strike.

The Lagos State government responded, but the general public was assured that all complaints would be resolved because the medical guild’s meetings were ongoing.
“As a responsible government, we value the crucial role that our healthcare professionals play in providing the over 20 million Lagos State residents with high-quality, timely health care.
We urge the Medical Guild to maintain dialogue while working toward a just and peaceful resolution in the interests of all parties, particularly those who face potential service disruption.
The Medical Guild should reconsider its decision regarding the warning strike and allow the discussions to come to an end that is beneficial, the Lagos State Ministry of Health writes.
