After turning his back on Hollywood, actor Josh Hartnett has surprised fans by making a shock comeback to social media to promote his acclaimed new film Fight or Flight.
A reclusive Hollywood star has returned to social media with a surprise post after ditching Los Angeles at the height of his fame. Josh Hartnett even made reference to his lack of communications with fans in the post.
For his most recent film, Fight or Flight, the actor, who also appeared in Oppenheimer, shared a clip of himself. It has received a flawless 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, which indicates how well a film or television show is received overall.
Josh’s face was barely visible while he was typing on his phone. Before ghosting social media for another ten years, a text read above his head read, “Me promoting my film.”
The movie star made fun of his lack of online presence with the liner-up that read, “You don’t get any of these viral trends when your team insists on a social media content day to promote your new film, Fight or Flight (in theaters May 9).”
One user asked, “What the hell, what the hell? ” in shock at Josh’s post. “Josh Harnett” Another remarked, “Please josh, you need to come back (actually come back)”
Josh, I never thought I would see this, someone else said. Then, according to another, “2035 is currently trying to figure out how to top that.”
The 46-year-old heartthrob, who was a major box office success in the late 1990s and early 2000s, made the decision to pursue more independent projects.
He also stated how he wanted to preserve his “sanity”. In a candid chat with Julia Stiles, Josh revealed: “I never really lived in LA. Even when we were making O, I was in Minnesota, New York, nowhere, because I was living from set to set.”
The actor also described his own motivation for shooting O in his auto after driving down from Minnesota. However, it was more about pure sanity that made the decision to leave the industry.
He also admitted that the allure of fame didn’t bring him the “satisfaction” he craved. Josh has now settled in the UK with his wife Tamsin Egerton.
The pair had been together since 2012 having met on the set of Time Traveller and walked down the aisle almost ten years later in a private ceremony. They were already proud parents to three children before tying the knot.
In 2021, he stated to Mr. Porter, “I’m most proud of having a good relationship with my partner, and I have a great family life.”
He explained why he chose to avoid Hollywood and said, “I made the decision to put that first. That’s what I always wanted.
I have family and friends that I’ve known for a long time. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t letting those relationships go. They give me who I am. I prioritize those concerns over pursuing Hollywood fantasies.
