Real Madrid, a giant of Spain, defeated Juventus 1-0 on Tuesday to set up a Club World Cup quarter-final match against Borussia Dortmund, who defeated Monterrey to defeat them.

Sergio Ramos’ side defeated their German side 2-1 in a close last-16 match in Atlanta, giving the former Real Madrid skipper a chance to face his former team.

At the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami earlier, youngster Gonzalo Garcia scored his third goal of the season to give Madrid a 1-0 lead.

Real Madrid wins the Club World Cup Quarter-Finals, and Gonzalo leads them past Juventus.

Under the new coach, Xabi Alonso’s Madrid side put together an impressive display, and Kylian Mbappe’s return from illness as a substitute increased that performance.

The second half produced a lot of chances, but their goalkeeper was really good, according to Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois.

With Igor Tudor’s Juventus beginning strong but Real’s came out on top, the first half was a finely balanced contest.

After 54 minutes, Los Blancos found themselves on the end of the tunnel when Trent Alexander-Arnold crossed for Gonzalo.

Alonso made the decision to introduce Mbappe to the 62, 149 crowd, but Juve pressed for an equaliser with no clear openings.

The coach of Madrid both applauded the team’s performance, including that of Gonzalo, who had been compared to the then-great Raul, and also suggested that Mbappe might be ready for a bigger role in the upcoming game.

Alonso said, “We will keep watching him… I think he will do a lot better quarters.”

Alonso continued, “I’m happy Real produced the necessary grit to grind out the result in the second half.”

The coach remarked, “We had to be patient, we had to mature into the game.”

You are aware that you must grit your teeth and carry out your obligations, just like the players and I are. And ultimately, we had to hold on a little bit, which I’m happy about.

Tudor, the head of Juve, claimed that as the game progressed, his team felt worn out.

“Two of them asked to be substituted in the end. You can’t do that, he said, explaining his reasons, but there was an exorbitant drowsiness.

According to Tudor, “the heat and humidity are what burns energy, but there is the tension of the game as well,” adding that they were approaching the end of a long season.

Ramos and Dortmund disagree,

Dortmund defeated Monterrey in a close encounter in Atlanta thanks to Guirassy’s brace, setting them up to face a Madrid side that defeated them in the 2024 Champions League final.

Dortmund coach Niko Kovac stated to the media, “Real has a great team, they have many good individual players.”

“I believe we will have a good chance of succeeding if we put everything on the pitch and perform it today.”

The Mexican side came close to scoring when a late Ramos header was just wide, but Guirassy doubled in the first half, but German Berterame curled one back for the Mexicans.

Guirassy told broadcaster DAZN, “I think I could have at least three goals, but I’m happy to have helped the team win.”

After struggling through several games in the blazing afternoon sun in the group stage, Dortmund were relieved to be at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and set a faster pace there.

Guirassy scored both of his goals as the Guinea international reached 37 for the season in all competitions.

Jobe Bellingham will be suspended for the game against his brother Jude’s Real Madrid side due to a booking.

However, after Monterrey opened the scoring in the second half, goalkeeper Gregor Kobel made several good save saves to keep Dortmund at bay.

Ramos attempted to liven up his penchant for late, decisive moments, like in Madrid’s 2014 Champions League triumph, by sending a header agonisingly wide in stoppage time.

Ramos, a proud supporter of his side’s efforts, told DAZN, “The crowd, our fans, and the people who understand football, they saw that the team gave everything.”
