Before the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June, Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid will hold further discussions about replacing him as Brazil’s coach.

The 65-year-old Italian will meet Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) representatives.

Following Real’s tumultuous Copa del Rey defeat by Barcelona on Saturday, Ancelotti stated that his future was “a topic for the next weeks, not today.”

However, Diego Fernandes, a businessman from Brazil who has been working for the CBF, was spotted at the game.

According to what Fernandes has said during his most recent trip to Europe, Ancelotti is attempting to persuade him to quit the Brazilian job once the domestic campaign is over.

Before the American Club World Cup this summer, Ancelotti would have to leave Real.

Dorival Junior, who was replaced by Ancelotti after Brazil lost to old rivals Argentina 4-1 in Buenos Aires last month, is the top priority.

In the South American World Cup qualifying table, Brazil is fourth.

The CBF believes that Ancelotti would give Brazil the best chance of winning the expanded 48-team competition, which will be jointly held in the US, Canada, and Mexico next year, even though they are not in any danger of failing to do so.

Ancelotti was previously in the CBF’s best interest for the Copa America last summer, but their bid was unsuccessful.

In his two seasons at Real, Ancelotti has won two La Liga titles and three Champions League titles, including both titles last year.

With five games to go, his team are four points clear of La Liga leader Barcelona, who were ultimately defeated by Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals, a score of 5-1 overall.
