After fielding an ineligible player in Tuesday’s win over Queen’s Park, Stranraer are facing the prospect of losing out on a lucrative trip to Ibrox to face Rangers at the end of the season.
On January 28, a Scottish FA disciplinary hearing will be held to look into the incident involving Lyndon Tas, who was on loan from the Hearts goalkeeper after drawing 1-1 at Stair Park.
The 17-year-old was hired on the day of the game, which had been postponed on Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch.
In the event of delays, abandonments, or replays, the Cup rules state that only those who have registered for the original date may participate.
The governing body has the authority to approve emergency loans, but Tas’ case is not one of them.
Queen’s Park would take their place in the fifth round if League Two Stranraer were to lose, winning 1-0 over Rangers at Ibrox last year.
