Kate Middleton: Claudia Winkleman taking style notes?

Our Princess Kate has just stepped out for an official engagement in what might be her favorite outfit from 2025 so far, and we’ve been enjoying it more and more in recent weeks.

Her look today is a complete switch from the sparkle of last night’s state banquet, but the Princess of Wales and the US First Lady looked completely at ease in casual mode as they head outdoors with a group of Scouts at the Frogmore Cottage grounds. Kate invited Melania Trump on this final engagement before her guest meets back up with her husband, Donald Trump, later today. And while Melania is certainly giving Kate a run for her money in countrycore chic, Kate once again takes the crown for style.

In what seems to be a look inspired by Claudia Winkleman’s The Traitors wardrobe, Kate sports a khaki top with a silky scarf tied into a bow, a matching khaki cropped utility jacket and a gorgeous tweed maxi skirt with pleat detailing for volume.

Although many of Kate’s recent looks were created by famous designers, it’s lovely to see her wearing something from a popular retailer. The brand-new fall/winter 2025 collection includes Ralph Lauren’s Evilyn Birdseye Tweed Skirt. Unfortunately, it’s not Boden pricing (another shoppable brand she’s worn this week), but it’s an autumnal piece you’d want to keep forever and build your entire autumn/winter wardrobe around.

This skirt, which is made of Italian wool birdseye tweed, has front pleats, a waist tab, and a subdued textured finish. It can be used with ease because of the neutral tone, and because of the structured cut, the appearance stays professional.

We are modifying Kate’s current look, which features a plain top and scarf. A fun little detail is added by adding a bow around her neck, giving the impression of being a pussybow blouse. Although it’s believed that the scarf she’s wearing is from Sudbury Silk Mills, Toast’s Spotted Carapace Print Silk Bandana, costs $79, it can have a similar appearance.
