Jennie Bond says Prince William and his uncle Prince Andrew were seen at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral, and Jennie Bond says it speaks volumes about their relationship.
Prince William “pulled rank” with ‘toxic’ Prince Andrew amid a frosty moment between the men, according to a royal expert.
Nearly all senior members of the Royal Family turned out earlier this week to pay their respects to the late Duchess of Kent, the wife of the Duke of Kent, who died earlier this month at the age of 92.
At the end of the service at Westminster Cathedral, as the Duchess’s coffin was carried to the hearse for a private burial at Windsor, William, his wife Kate, and the other royals stood on the steps of the building to pay their final respects.
The Prince of Wales, who is said to be “no fan of him,” was seen trying to talk to Andrew, who is known to have a turbulent relationship with his nephew, and who was later identified as “no fan of him.”
William looked straight ahead as they engaged in a awkward exchange, with Andrew reportedly acting furious that his uncle had cornered him during the moving ceremony.
Royal expert Jennie Bond claims that the awkward exchange has reinforced what we think is true thanks to the images that show it.
The former BBC royal correspondent told the Mirror : “William finds his uncle an embarrassment to the monarchy. I think it was an illustration of the fact that when William has made up his mind about something, he sticks to it.
And that is not at all a negative thing. When there is unmistakable tension between himself and Andrew, would it be hypocritical of him to pretend things are alright? As Andrew attempted to talk to her, Williamson looked incredibly uneasy. What was a very solemn occasion turned out to be a very awkward moment.
“I believe William’s body language demonstrated that this relationship is about a future King who outsmarts his uncle,” he said. Andrew has repeatedly demonstrated how toxic he is right now.
It was crass of him to try to make some noise, especially when the cameras were clearly focused on him and William at this depressing time. Although Andrew’s big brother and his other siblings approve of him, William has a different outlook and is of a different generation.
There were audible gasps among the outsiders when Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson arrived for the funeral last week.
And Jennie continued, “I understand that Andrew wanted to go to the funeral, but once more he showed that he had a bad attitude toward the monarchy and how the public feels about him.
“He could have stood quietly at the back of the group, away from the cameras and the senior members of the Royal family, such as William. Instead, he chose to position himself right next to his nephew .
The Duke of York simply doesn’t understand how strong public opinion is against him, if there is any need for proof.
