Since the Duke of Sussex quit his royal duties in 2020 and relocated to America, he has made a series of trips back to his home country for a number of reasons, such as big Royal Family moments and philanthropic commitments
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit their royal duties in 2020, they relocated to America with no plans to head back to the UK anytime soon. However, in the six years since their royal exit, the Duke of Sussex has made a handful of trips back to his home country.
Harry is expected to once again make the trip from California to London in the coming days to give evidence in his court case against Associated Newspapers Limited, but has no plans to see his father King Charles.
The Duke of Sussex last saw his father in September 2025, when Harry travelled to the UK for a whirlwind four-day trip for the annual WellChild awards. While in his home country, Harry met with Charles at Clarence House for a 50-minute private tea.
Before that, Harry has sporadically come back to the UK, mostly travelling solo while Meghan remained in California with their children Archie and Lilibet. The one time the family of four did travel to the UK was for the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
Just months later, Harry and Meghan left their children at home to travel back to the UK after the death of the late Queen. The Sussexes joined Prince William and Princess Kate for a walkabout at Windsor Castle, and attended Her Majesty’s funeral at Westminster Abbey.
Harry’s first trip back to the UK after he left his royal life behind came more than a year after the bombshell announcement that he and Meghan were quitting the Firm. In April 2021, Harry travelled solo to London to attend the funeral of his grandfather, the late Prince Philip.
