The Duke of Sussex has been a part of a dysfunctional family for a number of years with Prince William and their father, King Charles, but reconciliation with his older brother seems unlikely.
Prince Harry and Prince William’s older brother, Prince William, appear to have reconciled, but King Charles may decide to end ties with his youngest son if he stops acting in a certain way.
Tensions have been high between the Duke of Sussex and his brother and father ever since he sensationally stepped down as a working member of the Royal Family in 2020 alongside his wife, Meghan Markle.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the Sussexes’ two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, became permanent residents of California as they sought a new life. However, since then, the couple have launched a string of accusations against the royal family, and Harry himself has admitted that they may never “never forgive” him.
After finding their feet in the sunshine state of California, Harry and Meghan sat down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, just months before Lilibet was born. It aired some serious claims against the Royal Family, including someone allegedly asking Meghan about the colour of Archie’s skin before he was born.
In a strange twist, Harry’s explosive memoir, Spare, was released in January 2023, outshining everyone. As Harry revealed further allegations against his family, Harry’s father and brother became even more tense with this.
In one claim, he said his father “did not hug” him when his mother, Princess Diana, died, and in another, he alleged that Charles had said to Diana, “Wonderful. You have given me an heir and a spare. You have done your job.” Harry also claimed that he and William had a physical fight over his relationship with Meghan.
According to the claims made in Spare, it is feared that Harry’s tense relationship with William will be “much more difficult to repair.” The Duke claims that there is plenty of material in the book despite the release of the memoir more than two years ago. However, Harry claimed that his older brother would “never forgive” him if he released this.
Harry claimed that he had 800 pages written at the time of writing the 400-page memoir. Put it that way, it could have been two books, he said at the time. And removing the items was the difficult part. “
“But there are some things that have happened, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that I just don’t want the world to know. Because I don’t think they would ever forgive me.
You could argue that some of the things I’ve put there, but they’ll never be able to forgive me in any way. “
However, earlier this month, sources predicted Charles would be interested in seeing Harry again, but only if he backs away from the “endless” interviews and reduces his public attacks on the family. Senior aides from Charles and Harry’s teams convened for a secret peace summit in London to give the warning.
The King has consistently shown he loves both of his sons, and he is prepared to meet Harry when their diaries allow, according to a source close to the royal family. Aides from various households frequently meet, especially when new staff members start their positions, but of course this is a significant time.
Harry has been told by senior family members that his only option is to stop attacking the family and to engage in endless rounds of broadcast interviews. The Duke of Sussex might find it possible to begin the process of healing his relationship with his father if there is a period of rest and reflection.
