The Primark shoes bear a striking resemblance to a much more expensive pair from designer Gianvito Rossi
Primark is stocking a pair of shoes that bear a striking resemblance to a pricier alternative. Known for its affordable fashion and homeware, the high street giant may have just introduced a new crowd-pleaser.
The retailer’s Square Toe Mary Jane Ballerinas look similar to a style by brand Gianvito Rossi, but at a fraction of the cost. Shoppers can snag the Primark version for £10, while the designer version is priced at £635 online.
The shoes are very similar, with matching leopard print and ballerina-style designs. They also both have a gold-tone hardware and one strap over the top.
However, the more expensive version is made with 100% suede while Primark’s is synthetic. The designer shoes also have a more rounded toe, while the Primark shoes are squared.
The high street shoes are described as “Mary Jane style ballerina pumps with square toes.” They’re available in sizes three to eight.
The designer product description reads: “Crafted from supple leopard-printed suede, Carla is a flat ballerina style with a round toe and a rubber sole. The iconic Ribbon buckle, signature of the brand, enriches the front Mary Jane strap.
“A versatile staple reinterpreting ballet shoes’ proportions with a modern take: step after step, any woman can turn urban streets into her own stage. Handmade in Italy. “
The Primark shoes retail for £10, while the Gianvito Rossi Carla Ballerinas come in at £635. This means shoppers could save around £625 by opting for the bargain version.
