Lauren Price, the reigning welterweight champion of Wales, claims she has rejected a return to the Royal Albert Hall.

With a dominant points victory over Natasha Jonas at the London venue, Price, 31, hasn’t yet fought since earning the WBC and IBF belts.

In the spring, the former Bargoed Olympian will finally make her first defense in the Welsh capital.

At Rodney Parade in Newport, Price told an audience that “I am coming back to Cardiff and fighting at the]Utilita Arena.”

After winning against Jonas, Price had stated that she anticipated to be an undisputed champion by the end of the year.

She was present in Las Vegas as Briton Sandy Ryan won the WBO welterweight title against Mikaela Mayer for the second time.

However, despite rumors that the Boxxer-promoted fighter would return to the ring by August, it appears that she will need a 13-month break between fights.

“It’s been a great week of training, and I’m back sparring.” Price, who has won nine fights since becoming a professional, is ready to get serious and put on a good show for his fans.

“I’ve done everything, and I’m finally ready to move on to training, leaving no stone unturned, so that I’m ready for 4 April.”

The British Boxing Board of Control has posted notice of a fight between Welshman Rhys Edwards and Birmingham’s Gulraj Powar for their vacant featherweight title in Cardiff on Saturday, April 4th, with no official announcement regarding a show at the 7, 500-capacity venue.

Ben Shalom, the founder and CEO of Boxxer, will promote the match.

Being Welsh is a key component of her success, according to Price, who also won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and played international football for Wales.

She continued, “I want the big fights, I want momentum, and I adore fighting in Wales.”

“I was given the opportunity to fight at Albert Hall again in talks because it’s a fantastic venue,” said the Welsh fighter.
