Within weeks of revealing that she was expecting her second child, Ros Canter triumphed in a second successive Burghley Horse Trials.

The Briton won her final competition before taking a break from Lordships Graffalo, who becomes the first horse to win both Burghley and Badminton.

Canter, 39, won both Badminton and Burghley on the same horse in the same year as Ginny Leng and Ginny Leng in 1989.

She expressed her gratitude to Lordships Graffalo for some incredible experiences. He is also, as I’m hoping, the horse of many people’s lifetimes.

I hope he is remembered as a legend of our sport, a legend of all time, not just for his acting but also for his persona. He thrives on these occasions and is a wonderful horse to have at home.

After 1.2 time-faults in Sunday’s showjumping finale, second-placed Irish rider Austin O’Connor and Colorado Blue won by nine penalties and a final score of 23.6.

Harry Meade and Cavalier Crystal finished third consecutively for the third year in a row. He placed ninth on Et Hop Du Matz and fourth on Annaghmore Valoner.

Just a few weeks after winning team eventing gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics with Team GB, Lincolnshire rider Canter won Burghley for the first time last year.

The reigning European individual champion won the Luhmuhlen Horse Trials in Germany and the Badminton Horse Trials in Germany a month later.

Canter won three five-star events in a row, joining compatriot Pippa Funnell, who won the 2003 Grand Slam of Eventing, as a result of her triumph at Burghley.

Due to her pregnancy, Canter withdrew from the British team’s selection for the home European championships later this month. However, she made the decision to compete at Burghley because it was an individual competition and wouldn’t let anyone down if she did.

She continued, “It’s a big deal announcing a pregnancy when you know you might be attending an event like this,” after Sunday’s success.

“I can’t believe I haven’t heard the question, “What are you doing?” from anyone, right?” ‘. Are you certain, some people have asked me. and “be careful,” but overall I have received a lot of support. It has been incredible.
