In order to promote national stability and quick development, President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerian leaders and citizens to use diversity as a weapon of strength rather than division.
When he addressed the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria on Sunday in Rome, Tinubu said, “The country’s hope is stability and progress if we use our diversity to use it for prosperity rather than for suffering.”
The President joined other world leaders for the historic occasion at Pope Leo XIV’s installation mass at the Vatican shortly after the meeting.
The President described the inauguration of a new Pope as a “historic” moment, according to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The Catholic bishops were present at both Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration and the burial of the late Pope Francis in Rome.

President Tinubu thanked Archbishop Lucius Ugorji for facilitating their visit to the Vatican. President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria and Archbishop of Owerri expressed gratitude to Archbishop Lucius Ugorji.
You are there for us at all times. We will invite you whenever we hold our conference in Nigeria now that you have visited the Vatican. According to Archbishop Ugorji, “we look forward to interfacing with you, just as you did with the Holy Father.”
Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Sokoto Diocese, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Abuja, Archbishop Alfred Martins of Lagos, and Archbishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Sokoto Diocese also attended the meeting.

Earlier on Sunday, President Tinubu had a meeting with Kayode Fayemi, the former governor of Ekiti State, and Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 election.
Following the installation mass in St. Peter’s Square, he also had a brief conversation with the 69-year-old Pope. He exchanged a few words with the new pontiff before moving on to a video on the president’s X account.
Following the mass, the Pope was greeted by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and American Vice President J. D. Vance, both of whom were also present.
Following a covert cardinal conclave, Pope Leo XIV, formerly Cardinal Robert Prevost, was proclaimed the 267th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church on May 8.

The pontiff, who was born in America, had vehemently advocated for environmental protection, global peace, and the protection of underprivileged communities when he first proclaimed his papacy.
