In Vatican City, on the final day of the 2025 Giro d’Italia, the late Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21, will be remembered with a neutralized start.
Before the Giro’s final stage, which starts in Albania on May 9, will riders pass through Vatican City in Rome on June 1 before the official opening.
The Giro will end in Rome for the third time in 108 attempts, but this time only for the seventh time.
Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri praised Pope Francis, his persona, and his message of hope in the jubilee year, saying, “This presence is renewed this year with an exciting symbolic start from Vatican City.”
Eight loops of a 9. 5 km circuit will be present for the 21st stage of the competition in Rome.
