The Nigeria Police Force has recovered multiple stolen vehicles trafficked across international borders to neighbouring West African countries, following a series of coordinated operations through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed that the vehicles were successfully traced, recovered, and repatriated through international law enforcement collaboration.
According to the statement, operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, working closely with the INTERPOL NCB Accra, recovered a 2020 model Toyota Prado in Accra, Ghana.
The vehicle, which belongs to a federal government agency in Nigeria, was stolen during a robbery incident in Abuja.
Three suspects were arrested in Ghana and subsequently charged in court in Accra. The vehicle has since been returned to Nigeria and formally handed over to the affected agency.

In a similar operation, the police recovered a Toyota Hilux (2018 model) belonging to another Federal Government agency. It was reported stolen from a staff member of the agency in the Utako District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on 18 October 2024.

“In a related development, the Nigeria Police Force is currently finalising efforts to recover and repatriate two additional vehicles – a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV and a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUV – stolen in Abuja in May 2025 and later sold in Niamey, Niger Republic,” the statement added.
The Force has encouraged Nigerians to register their vehicles on the Police Electronic Platforms and to take necessary precautions to improve the chances of recovery in the unfortunate event of theft.
